Isn’t it amazing what people can do when they really want to do it?There are a lot of sub-contractors who only want to do what they always do.They don’t want to deviate from their everyday routine. As a result, when a customer asks for something a little, or a lot, different, the sub-contractor responds by telling the customer that it’s not a good idea or it can’t be done. On the other hand, at Hirsch Custom Cabinets we always like to assume that our customers are intelligent people who have good reasons for their requests. Therefore, we believe that it is our job to work closely with our customers by listening to them, to educate them about the process, to offer them alternatives and discuss the pros and cons of different choices.
We feel it is our job to listen to our customer’s wishes and use them as our guide. We also feel very strongly that it is our job, as the professional, to help the customer avoid the many pitfalls that come their way during a project. In other words, we feel that we have the responsibility to alert the customer, in advance, of a potential problem. This may be within our realm of responsibility on the job or it could be a problem with the interface between us and one or more other trades. At Hirsch Custom Cabinets we believe that it is our responsibility to have a clear understanding of the “big picture” so that we make sure we fit into it properly. We feel that it is not enough to build cabinets and install them, we need to understand what’s happening with the floors, countertops, backsplashes, under counter lighting, various electrical and media interfaces, audio visual components, the ceiling, door and window moldings, window treatments, plumbing fixtures and appliances. For example, if we are given a specification sheet for an item such as an appliance, but do not have a full understanding of it, we will drive to a distributor and inspect the appliance in person.Furthermore, because every job is different, we need to explore the fit and finish of each appliance in each unique circumstance.
The lack of understanding, in any of these areas before the job starts, and the failure to communicate with the customer or other trades can cause serious problems that can cause job delays, unnecessary expenditures and compromises that leave the customer having to settle for less. There are always going to be some challenges along the way, what’s important is how they are dealt with when they arise. To put it simply, our customer's satisfaction is our number one priority.
